Olavion, a subsidiary of the UNIMOT Group, placed an order for the purchase of 12 additional locomotives from Newag S.A. The value of this order is 224.6 million PLN. The transaction was carried out under the purchase option specified in the agreement concluded on June 13, 2023, regarding the acquisition of 20 locomotives by UNIMOT.
The implementation of the order for 12 additional locomotives is a key step in the development of Olavion's fleet, which currently consists of 21 electric locomotives and 3 diesel shunting locomotives. With the new units, the company will be able to further enhance operational efficiency and expand its operations in the railway transport sector. Utilizing the guarantee of purchasing locomotives at the price agreed in the contract is is an important element of the UNIMOT’s investment strategy.
The delivery of the ordered locomotives has been spread over several stages: the first 2 units will be delivered within 23 months from the order date, the next 4 will be delivered to Olavion by the end of December 2027, another 4 by the end of December 2028, and the last 2 will be delivered by the end of December 2029.
