UNIMOT S.A. will provide the Polish government as a donation with 100 000 pieces of coronavirus tests, purchased from one of the leading Chinese producers.
UNIMOT S.A., Polish biggest independent importer of fuels, which sells also on the Chinese market engine oils under the AVIA brand, making use of its good business relationships with Chinese partners, will import to Poland 100 000 pieces of coronavirus tests, the virus which causes the COVID-19 disease. The supplier which agreed to carry out the order is the pharmaceutical company Sinopharm International with its seat in Hong Kong. Sinopharm International is a company owned by the national enterprise China National Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd.
All the imported by UNIMOT tests will be passed to the Polish Ministry of Health or another appointed by the ministry organisation to be used at their discretion. The price of one test is USD 3.5 and the whole order amounts to USD 350 000, which is almost PLN 1.5 million. Representatives of UNIMOT intend to request the Ministry of Finance to exempt the transaction from duty and VAT, so as to minimise the cost of this social aid.
„In Poland hundreds of people struggle with the pandemic of coronavirus every day, risking their lives and health. Among them one can find doctors, nurses, ambulance workers or uniformed services. We admire them and we are grateful to them, but we want to join the battle ourselves” — says Mr Adam Sikorski, President of the Management Board of UNIMOT S.A. „Our decision about the type of support results from the guidelines published by the World Health Organisation (WHO), which calls on performing as many tests as possible to check the presence of the virus SARS-CoV-2. So far, out of all the countries of the world China has dealt with the virus most effectively. Therefore, we have decided to use our contacts that we established through our own company in Shanghai and import much-desired tests from this place” — adds President Sikorski.
The contract for carrying out the order was signed on Friday, 20th March 2020. The production of tests is already underway. The producer declares they will be ready within 14 days and will be sent by air.
